Updates on the Ikutha Project
We are delighted to report that the Ikutha Project is off to a great start. Sr. Munanie, who came to speak at our Parishes in late 2024, has written with updates on progress. Read on to discover how things are progressing and how our fundraising efforts wil impact those in great need:
From Sr. Munanie’s donor update for year end 2024:
It is my honour, on behalf of the Trustees of the Poor Servants of the Mother of God, the SMG Sisters in East Africa and the many people who have benefited from your help during the past year 2024, to cordially thank you. Your generosity has encouraged and enabled us to continue our good work of missions and outreach to so many people who are in great need. These photos are just a taste of all that has been done for so many people. None of it would be possible without your constant generosity.
Our Sisters work in very poor, semi-arid areas of Kenya and Tanzania and thousands of families have been transformed by your generosity. The main activities of the Trust, all of which benefit numerous members of the public, concentrate on formation, education, healthcare, social empowerment and pastoral ministry. Other activities include environmental care and sustainability.
As 2024 draws to a close, our enormous gratitude and sincere appreciation go out to each one of you, our faithful supporters. My words cannot express how much your generosity means to our East African Missions and the beneficiaries. You and all our benefactors are remembered in the prayers of the Congregation.

During the year, Sisters have helped eleven poor families with seeds and seedlings for planting as well as supporting fifteen students; depending on their needs, support may be, for example, for uniforms, shopping, school fees or examination fees.

We are also delighted to hear that borehole drilling for the Ikutha project has been completed. We are planning some great fundraising events for 2025 and encourage any parishioners who have fundraising ideas they would like to run to get in touch. Please also join our Jackpot Club if you havent already done so - you can find out more here.
We will keep you updated on Ikutha as the year progresses and hope to host Sr Munanie again in the Summer for a Q&A.
